This is a script that Andrei and I worked on starting in the workshop on Tuesday. I think this is finished but Andrei has not signed off on it yet so he still has a chance to change it.

Fiction Adaptation- Script Draft

After deciding today that I think the script for this project should be kept fresh in my mind I decided to do the first draft, I copied out the poem into a final draft document adding that it is to be said by a narrator. I put between some of the lines the imagery that I am thinking of using at the moment but soon  that may change depending what I can get hold of in terms of people and locations. Although it is not written right now in the correct descriptive style I believe it should help me get a better of idea of what I need to do.

Fiction Adaptation- Lecture 1

Today was the first of 4 fiction adaptation lectures in which I learnt about what I should be looking at while trying to write my essay. I will still be looking into Poirot by Agatha Christie but I will also be looking at critics of the adaptation that was on television, how the adaptation its self changed and the audience that the adaptation was aimed at and the audience that the books were aimed at.

Essay points;

• My first essay point will be to look at the adaptation of the first book Agatha Christie wrote and the case in the first book that was features in season 3 episode 1 of the series. I want to look at the pilot episode as well to look how they introduce Poirot as that would have been in the first case that is not shown till later. 
• Secondly I would like to examine the critics of the series and how journalist rated the series against a market of so many other detective series. Due to the amount of series there should of been a good sizeable audience.
• I also want to look at the audience and how they may have changed over the years in terms of viewing. 
• Characters that may have changed in the adaptation and story lines that are parallel with the main case stories will also interest me. 

Digital News- Secondary Story Idea

After the Vlogging we decided to look at our second story as something local. Andrei had seen on FaceBook the previous week that there had been 2 people found in a car in Rainham. At first I was not to keen on the idea as I was not sure what we could report that would be new. But after the boys were talking about I came out with the idea that we look at it from a different angle that matches what we are trying to do as a news programmer, ARMA, therefore I thought if we looked into how safe people now feel in the area. This will make it a more local story.

Digital News- YouTube vs Vimeo

While looking into what website we should publish our news piece on with have the option of YouTube or Vimeo.

I am familiar with YouTube and it has advantages of being able to be embedded into such things as a blog post and been able to watch without having to go on the YouTube website. Therefore it could be embedded into a website that we could create. YouTube is also known to have a great amount of users across the world and create people that become famous through this type of medium.

Such websites as BBC News do not use YouTube to show their videos on as their website videos can just be seen on the website.

ITV also have this ability with their website but they have less videos to be viewed as the only one I could find amongst top stories was one of the weather. 

Vimeo on the other hand is something I am unfamiliar with and there fore have to do research on. Vimeo seems to look more of a personal website that you can change and personalise. With no adds and it supports the theory that it is a community not just a website.

There seem to be other people also having the same debate as I. 

This is what I ended up deciding to watch to help me. Although the decision will not just be mine it will be the decision of the group but I feel that by looking into both websites I can have a better knowledge and therefore a better decision.
