Professional Practice- Potential Case Studies

For my Dissertation I need to look at serial killers that may be seen to be sympathised with, looking around this there are two that stand out one British and one American.

The Fall; 

As this Telegraph article points out, the audience sympathise with the main character who happens to be a serial killer- 

The two actors from the series have a discussion in the interview about the show;

This article is talking about the idea of the serial killer and how it was created-

The writer had created the character and is now defending that the idea was not originally about violence against women- 

In other parts of the web it can be seen that the actor based his work on infamous serial killers to become the mind set, his work inspired by Ted Bundy- 

The Fall being based on a serial killer can be said to be glorifying that killer and what they did to those people- 

Dexter 

Dexter also seems to have an audience of sympathy, not only for the television series but for the books written, the article explains the writers thoughts of his own character- 

Due to the show being an American show it is mainly written about in America- Atlantic

This article talks about the leading man and why it is so easy to sympathies. Making him an vigilante, killing the 'bad guys' of the world.
