Studio Production- Reflection of the Day

As part of this unit we were asked to write a report about how we found the unit and what we were able to do. I was able to write about all the different things I was able to do and who I was able to help out during the production. Most of the work is in the report, but I thought I would write a small reflection of the day.

As part of this unit I spent a lot of time with the CAFT team, I was happy to spend time with them and to help them find their way around the studio. During the set build I made sure they were happy and knew what they were doing and when, I took them to lunch and was there for them when they came back down to the studio.

During the shoot day I spent most of the afternoon with Robyn Perkins, I picked her from the train station and then took her to the base room for our lunch. After lunch I took Robyn to look around the set, meet the producers and then took her to see Aimee to entertain the audience.

Before the shoot I walked around the set and talked to the camera crew to see if everyone was happy and excited. All the camera men and the floor manager did really well with the shoot, the floor manager (Kate) worked very well under pressure and was able to make sure the floor knew what was happening and when. The camera men were in very good spirits when I left them and they did a very good job on the day.

As the production was being filmed I was sat in the gallery with Helen, we were able to note down any issues with the work for the 'pick-ups', which Hans suggested that we do. Helen and myself were able to watch as everyone worked, this was a good learning experience to watch the directors and the vision mixers work.

Professional Practise- Meeting With Verity

After having a meeting with Verity we were assured that our work was going on noticed, she has asked for a copy of the work to send to the HR department to be approved as well as for us to be given music. We wanted the same music as the other videos online but due  to the lack of time that we had left it was not able to be completed. I called Verity and it was suggested that if we were short on time to look at the music we would be able to find online.

This started with a search on Youtube but no viable music came out of that leading Sophie to find music on the royalty free websites. We knew what kind of music that we wanted to have for the film and so we searched for something that was close to the music on the other videos that were produced.

Professional Practice- HR Contact

While looking at the rough cut we asked Verity to forward it to the HR Department to approve and send us the music in the previous films.

Hi Elisa,

We have been working with 2nd year students from the University of creative arts .
The Students from UCA have used PQA Tunbridge Wells as a commission part of their degree. Could you give them any feedback and would we be able to use it on the micro site?
They are also requesting what music to use maybe the one used in my Tonbridge and Rochester videos. Thanks x

----
As discussed previously, I am sending a rough copy of the promotional video for Tunbridge Wells ready for you to forward to the PR department. I was unable to attach the video to the e-mail so I uploaded it to YouTube - here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF5mpB7IOYY&feature=youtu.be, I hope this is okay.

Roxanne and I would still like to use the music from the other promotional films so if possible, could we have it as an MP3 file? We would also like to use the PQA logo on the black background that features at the beginning and end of the existing videos - I don't know if the PR department would have this saved as an image file but could we possibly have a copy of that too?

Professional Practise- Dissertation Proposal Research

While writing the dissertation proposal I decided to quote the most important scene of the second season:

I also decided to look into online reviews of the program and its series two final:

Telegraph
The Guardian

Both of these sources provided extra material to critically study the program.

While looking into different texts I found the theory of the cop cat, I decided to look into Dexter and if there were any cop cat killers in real life and found this article that I then put into my proposal:
The Guardian- Teen Killer

Professional Practice- Rough Cut

This is the rough cut that we produced for PQA to look at, approve and hopefully give feedback on. This has been sent to Verity who will be forwarding it to the HR department. There is currently no music on the rough cut but it is in the rough order we would like it in.

Professional Practise- Commissions Script

After reviewing the last script and the footage I came up with this script, although I am sure that during the editing process it will change:
