Pre-Production Unit- Agatha Raisin

After much deliberation I have decided as part of my Pre-Production Unit is to create an adaptation of a book. There are many options in this area but I have decided to use a book I know and have read.

I have chosen to adapt from a series based around the character Agatha Raisin written by M.C.Beaton, the books are based around the character who is an amateur detective and soon owns her own detective agency in the later books. The books were written from 1992-still being written, the latest book release date is September 2015. There are 25 books currently released and 26 by the end of the year ( this does not include 'handbooks'). Fiction DB has the books catalogued and in order for the convenience of dates.

The books were adapted and broadcast on Radio 4, some of the books names were changed but all were written by M.C.Beaton. Although some of the episodes are no longer available to listen to online any more.
This is the first episode of Agatha Raisin that Radio 4 have archived, first broadcast in 2011. Radio 4- these are the episodes that are still available.

The only known Agatha Raisin book to be made into a television episode is the first book that was written in 1992 Agatha Raisin: the Quiche of Death, it was produced into a television special in 2014 for Sky One lasting 90 mins, there is still information available on Sky's website, http://www.sky.com/tv/show/agatha-raisin

This is a short promotional video produced by Sky to introduce the characters.

Here is another short film produced to advertise the production and explain how they came to create the series. It features the actors the original writer, M.C.Beaton, executive producer Barry Ryan,

And finally the trailer for Agatha Raisin: The Quiche of Death

I have decided to look at the second book in the series Agatha Raisin and the Vicious Vet, it is the second book in the series and was published 1993, broadcast on Radio 4 in 2011.
