Professional Practice- Promotional Film Research

For our commission we are producing a promotional film for a school so I decided to look into other schools promotional films such as the Beford school which is a boading school.
Starts with natural sounds of a person entering there room and taking off their tie. This then leads from this person putting on music to a montage of pictures from different events. These events also have footage which replaces the stills. The camera is seen and acknowledged, people are often looking into the camera breaking the fourth wall. Ends with many short flashing clips.

Burnside Primary School;

This video is more based around an interview with the head teacher which has footage over the top of the school and its pupils running around. The music in this is classical, making the video slower and having a slower edit. This concept is different to Bedford as Bedford is more upbeat and fast with a music track to match.

UCA Promotional Video-
This is fast moving with an energetic sound track, showing a lot of students but mainly basing the video around their work. Like all the videos it starts with the logo of the institution.

St Machar Academy Promotional Film

Up beat music, shows all the classes and the pupils walking around. Some shots are sped up to make faster but in some parts do not fit in with the music as the shots are slow and edited slowly. They have included many POV shots as to make it more interesting.

PQA promotional video teaser

This is a short video that shows some of the activities happening at the PQA, it has fast paced music and always has something happening. It has an upbeat vibe and works very well with the music.

From this research I have decided I need to think about-

  • Beginning with the PQA logo
  • Have fast paced music
  • Have the locations but make the film quick and exciting
  • Get lots of the classes with footage of lots of movement
